Why did I implement it?
This approach creates a student-centered learning environment. The evidence supporting success in this kind of learning environment is overwhelming. Studies have been done as early as 1994. Pioneers in this area are De Corte and Verschaffel in the early 1990s, Turner and Meyer, et al, in 2003 and Smith and Stein 2015. These studies are just a few, which provide both quantitative and qualitative data which support a Number Talks learning environment.

What did I Implement?
I will be implementing Number Talks. It is a teaching strategy which emphasizes open communication and thereby increased comprehension, as students tackle word problems in mathematics.
